The Bruno's
April 16th, 2020
Dear Bruno’s Signature family and friends,
We’d like to begin by acknowledging your kind words and understanding as you continue to shop with us during this time. A little positivity goes a long way and your emails and in-store comments really brighten up our day. We hear you; we appreciate you, and we thank you for being the best Bruno’s family we could ever ask for.
Since our last communication, we have put in place some additional measures to protect our customers and staff, we would like to provide you with those updates.
Limiting customers in store
The first thing you will notice is that we are limiting the number of in-store customers and would appreciate one person per family coming to shop. This may mean waiting outside briefly. We ask that you please respect the government-mandated rule of standing six feet apart, both inside and outside the store, in order to respect everyone’s health and safety.
Cleaning and sanitizing activities
Once you enter our store, we have installed hand sanitizing stations for you to use at the front door and at the meat department. We are also sanitizing all touch services throughout the store regularly, including inside and outside door handles, shopping carts, baskets, counters and pin pads.
While shopping with us
You may notice that some of the special services we usually offer, such as individual bagging of service meat counter items and pre-ordering, have been put on pause for the time being. This is due to the reduced number of staff on hand and to serve as many people as possible in a timely manner to minimize the outside waiting time.
Checking out
When you’re ready to check out, you’ll see that we have installed plexiglass at our checkout stations to keep everyone as safe as possible. We are continuing to accept debit and credit cards only as your method of payment. If your credit or debit card allows, we would appreciate you using the tap option to minimize pin pad touching. Visa, Mastercard and Amex have all increased their tap limits to $250. While we are normally big supporters, we are also asking you to please refrain from bringing in reusable bags at this time. In the interest of safety, we are currently bagging all products in plastic bags.
We understand some of these measures can be frustrating and we mean it from the bottom of our hearts when we thank you for your patience. We are grateful for your understanding and look forward to continuing to serve you and your family as we continue navigating these uncharted waters.
In good health,
Keven & Mark Bruno
April 1st, 2020
We want to personally thank each of you for your patience during these trying times. As you know, we have implemented a number of safety measures in an effort to keep you and our staff healthy. With your help and understanding, we will be here to continue providing food for our community. Our staff have been working day and night to replenish inventory and you will find most of our products back in stock.
Easter will be a little different for us this year. We will have our famous Fresh, Free Run Turkeys, Boneless Baked Maple Hams and Lamb available in abundance, but unfortunately, we will not be taking orders this year. With the staff limitations, it's difficult to process orders. Our turkeys will be available starting April 3rd in 12-18LB sizes. Please drop by early for best selection.
Stay healthy
The Bruno's
March 24th, 2020
Dear Bruno’s Signature family and friends,
We consider our people and our customers to be an extension of the Bruno family, and as such, their health and safety is our primary concern.
We understand the anxiety and confusion that COVID-19 is causing, and that you may have questions about how this is affecting us here at Bruno’s. This is why we wanted to personally update you on the measures we have in place to prepare for and limit the potential impact to our customers, employees and operations.
As you know, the Government of Ontario has announced the closure of all non-essential businesses to help slow the spread of COVID-19. As a manufacturer and a retailer of food, Bruno’s provides an essential service and will remain open to serve you and our community. That said, we have altered our store hours to 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in order to accommodate our ongoing store sanitization program, which includes thoroughly sanitizing high-touch areas such as checkout stations, coolers, cooler handles and basket, cart and door handles.
We are also actively practicing social distancing in our stores, including reducing the number of staff working each day. Unfortunately, since many of the food items we sell are produced in-house, this means your favourite entrée or burger may not be available when you visit us. We understand this is frustrating and are doing our very best to replenish inventory as quickly as possible. Due to the changing inventory availability for some items, we are also temporarily pausing production of our weekly flyer.
Other social distancing measures we have initiated include:
• Asking our staff to stay home if they are not feeling well
• Implementing a night shift in order to safely spread out staff and continue producing food for your families
• Asking customers to remain 2 metres apart while shopping with us
• Eliminated food sampling
• Discouraging the use of reusable bags, or alternatively, asking customers to bag their own items to minimize contact with our staff
We are also taking the additional step to not accept any cash payments at this time. Until further notice, we will be accepting debit, credit or gift card payments only.
We are continuing to monitor updates from the CDC and Health Canada, and as the COVID-19 situation evolves, we will continue to keep you informed if there are any changes to our plans.
These are extraordinary times and we would like to thank all of you for your continued patience and understanding as we navigate through this together. While we recognize the impact of this uncertain situation will be uneven, we have enormous faith in the resilience of the Bruno’s family to continue to do what is right to keep each other safe and make the most of a difficult situation.
We look forward to continuing to serve you.
Wishing you and your families continued good health – and keep washing those hands!
Keven & Mark Bruno
